- We are seeking Council approval to remove the Liquidambar styraciflua (Liquidambar) tree located in the front garden adjacent to the driveway and pedestrian pathway. The tree's root system has significantly lifted the paved driveway and adjoining footpath, creating an uneven surface that presents a serious safety hazard. The raised paving poses a risk of trips and falls for our renters, visitors, and pedestrians using the path. Given the extent of the root intrusion and the associated public safety concerns, we respectfully request approval for the removal of the tree to prevent further damage to the surrounding infrastructure and to ensure the safety of all occupants and members of the public. We are happy for the council to recommend a replacement tree. Otherwise we are considering a Crepe Myrtle, Evergreen Magnolia or a Dwarf red flowering gum.
