The Victorian branch of Waverley Forklifts is located at 74 Ricketts Rd and this site is used to operate a forklift hire and service business. Waverley Forklifts has a fleet of approximately 6,000 forklifts (nationwide) and this fleet comprises LPG, diesel and electric powered forklifts. The quantity of electric powered forklifts in their fleet is increasing, and it is a requirement that electric forklifts be stored undercover. Therefore, Waverly Forklifts require additional undercover storage space, hence the need for the proposed Forklift Storage Canopy. The area that we are proposing to build this new structure on is currently used for storing/parking forklifts – what we are proposing, is to simply build a canopy structure (roof only, no walls) that will increase the undercover forklift parking area. It should be noted that this structure is not a warehouse, it is basically a large free-standing carport and will not be attached to the existing Workshop building. The use of this space will not be changing in any way – it is currently used for forklift storage and will continue to be used for this same purpose. Further to this, we will not need to remove any existing vegetation/trees from the site to accommodate this new canopy.
