The proposal seeks approval to extend the existing perimeter fencing along the Howe Street boundary to allow the fence to continue along the full side of the dwelling, rather than being restricted to the current 30% limitation. The purpose of the proposed fence extension is to provide a continuous and secure boundary between the dwelling and Howe Street. The property is located along a main highway, and the existing open section creates concerns regarding the privacy, security and safety of the occupants, particularly given the proximity of the dwelling and children’s living and sleeping areas to the road. A continuous boundary would provide a more appropriate level of separation between the residence and the public road and would improve the overall security and privacy of the property. As part of this application, approval is also sought to remove or vary the existing covenant/restriction that limits fencing along the Howe Street boundary to 30%, so that the proposed continuous boundary fence can be lawfully established.
