Property Scores — 01 of 08
Australia's first free per-address noise score. A geometry-based model trained on Europe's national noise maps and calibrated for Australia, covering every property nationwide.
The Problem
Buying property? Assessing a development site? You want to know how noisy it is. Your current options aren't great.
Existing services charge per-report and give you a 1-5 scale rating. Not enough granularity to make real decisions.
Each state has different noise corridor maps, traffic count databases, and planning overlays. None of them give you a score.
No Australian product gives you a quantitative, per-address noise level instantly. Until now.
How It Works
A geometry-based model learns how noise propagates from the Netherlands' and the UK's national noise maps, then re-calibrates per Australian state against professional acoustic samples.
We identify every significant noise source around the target address: road traffic, rail and tram routes with timetable-derived frequency, and aircraft noise contours from civilian and defence airfields.
For each address we measure the local geometry that drives noise: distance and class of nearby roads, building density and height, terrain relief and land cover. Buildings between a source and the receiver still attenuate sound via barrier screening.
A Random Forest model is supervised by the Netherlands' (RIVM) and the UK's (DEFRA) national Lden noise maps, then affine-calibrated per Australian state against roughly 11,000 professional acoustic facade samples.
The final output is a 0-100 score with decibel estimate, source-by-source breakdown, confidence interval, and data provenance. Cached queries return in under 1 millisecond.
Data at Scale
Accuracy
Professional acoustic consultants typically achieve within 2-3 dB using on-site equipment. Our model achieves 3.58 dB remotely, instantly, for any address, and is calibrated per state against those same professional measurements.
| Method | Accuracy | Speed | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| On-site consultant | +/- 2-3 dB | Days | $2,000+ |
| NoiseNet report | 1-5 scale | Hours | $60 |
| DA Leads Noise Score | +/- 3.58 dB | Instant | Free |
The model is calibrated per state. Accuracy is highest in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT; New South Wales currently has lower confidence and we flag it in the results. The latest model also corrected a systematic bias in our earlier version that under-estimated noise in dense inner-city areas.

Who It's For
Know the noise level before you commit. Compare shortlisted addresses side by side with quantitative scores.
Assess acoustic constraints early. Noise impacts planning approvals, building design requirements, and project cost.
Include noise data in client reports. Transparent methodology and data sources your clients can verify.
Property Scores
Each score uses open government data with transparent methodology. No black boxes.
